Paul had been invited to take part in the Panel Discussion as a key part of the event in front of conference delegates consisting of TfWM staff; Local Authority Transport Leads; Transport Operators; Disabled People and Disability Organisations.

The panel objective was to bring a cross-sector multi-modal view through a disabled person’s lens by sharing: Professional, and personal lived experience; A knowledge of the sector with a solutions-focused mindset, while highlighting the realities of the challenges we face as people with disabilities combined with forward thinking as to how improved transport accessibility benefits everyone.

The day was organised by Mark Fosbrook, Disability Inclusion Manager for WMCA and hosted by Louise Conopp, Senior Engagement Manager for Sight Loss Councils in the Midlands Region. The conference began with keynote presentations from: Sandeep Shingadia, Executive Director for Transport for West Midlands; Emma Partlow, Chief Executive for National Centre for Accessible Transport; Sammey Ahmed, from Deaf World and Michael Sandland, Operations Manager for Transport for West Midlands.

Collaboration is happening with co-design and co-production values centred in TFWM; Its DNA and its staff. Additionally: Disability lead organisations; Related sector professionals and disabled people with personal and professional lived experience are being included in strategy planning and implementation.
