Reasons To Be Work Cheerful

Paul Hopkins, Advocacy Lead, All Formats

Apart from the fact that Christmas is coming, the most wonderful time of the year, right? There is a joy in Advocacy when you witness accessibility happening as though it is built in to the every day.

I came to work this morning and was delighted to see 3 of our most recently recruited staff, beginning their Braille learning journey.

These colleagues were not necessarily previously connected with the blind and partially sighted community. We ask all our team to learn Braille as part of their work with us.

This isn’t just about fulfilling a business need in order to ensure workflow isn’t disrupted when an extra pair of hands are required to check for quality control, this also includes:

  • Discussion around Braille history and the dynamic nature of the Braille code.
  • The amazing places in which Braille can be found.
  • Many questions and discussion as curiosity increases.

Braille still has a pivotal role to play in the lives of those of us who use it every day to connect and communicate with the world around us.

Accessibility isn’t just for Christmas, Talk to us today to discover more ways in which we can help you ensure your customers have a truly accessible experience during the Festive Season and beyond.
